No se aceptan dólares
Parece que Gisele Bundchen y Hugo Chávez no son los únicos que no están por la labor de aceptar dólares. Los turistas norteamericanos han comenzado a descubrir que el billete verde, incluido el mítico Franklin, ya no es tan bien recibido en todos los confines del planeta:
The Taj Mahal has stopped accepting dollars for the entrance fee, under a new edict from the Indian Ministry of Culture that also affects other national tourist sites like the 13th-century minaret known as the Qutb Minar and Humayun's Tomb in Delhi. As a result, for entrance to the Taj Mahal, Americans must now pay 750 rupees, about $19, at the rate of 29.74 rupees to the dollar, compared with $15 previously.Some tour operators say they have encountered newfound resistance to dollars in parts of Vietnam and Peru, especially in villages that are off the beaten path.
"It used to be a $100 bill was universal everywhere, from Moscow to Mozambique," said Peter Rudy, the North America director for KE Adventure Travel, a Denver-based outfit that books adventure trips throughout the world. "It's not now."
Por amor de Dios, ni en Vietnam. Es que ya no respetan nada.
Pero en Chechenia, el dolar sigue siendo el rey. Aún hay esperanzas para George Washington.

Pues que se anden cuidado en el Taj Mahal, que estos yankees son mucho yankees, y mira la que liaron cuando uno se quiso pasar al euro en el tema del petróleo.
Hace poco vi un reportaje en TVE, con la corresponsal rubia platino, en la que en el centro de Nueva York los comerciantes preferían el euro al dolar. Hacía gracia y todo.
