Las lágrimas de Karzai
El presidente de Afganistán se echa a llorar durante un discurso en un colegio de Kabul.
"I do not want Mirwais, my son, to be a foreigner, I do not want this. I want Mirwais to be Afghan," said Karzai, who himself spent many years in exile in Pakistan, while fighting the Soviet occupation in the 1980s and later during Taliban rule.
Palabras emocionantes, pero no ayudan mucho unos días después de que el libro de Bob Woodward volviera a contar, citando al embajador norteamericano, que Karzai sufre de frecuentes ataques depresivos y que suele estar fuertemente medicado.
Así que ya sabemos que la estrategia occidental en Afganistán no depende sólo de la necesidad de sostener a un Gobierno corrupto sino también de la ingesta de antidepresivos por su presidente. Genial.
